Me: DON'T DO IT!!!
Me: You must not have read "Cupcakes".
*I hand twilight the book and she reads it*
Twilight: WHY WOULD SHE DO THAT TO HER!?
Me: I wish I knew.
I kinda like Alicorn Twilight but I also don't like it. Twilight basically spent the series learning about friendship and now she's in a position where, even if the status difference is ignored (and it probably will be in her social circle, her friends won't allow for her to ditch them, especially if someone else is pressuring her) she'll eventually have to watch them die. The only saving grace in the problem is Spike - as a dragon, he'll live for a long time. In fact, before Alicorn!Twilight appeared, there were fics shown an older Spike remembering the Mane Six after they had died.
However, I do like Alicorn!Twilight and hope that there is a new season exploring how she learns to deal with her new status. Flying lessons with Rainbow Dash, maybe?
There is always a better way to deal with this situation. In my fanfic, Skylanders X MLP, Twilight and Spyro became Ali Twilight and Legendary Spyro after attacking the Iron Fist of Arkus. After defeating Kaos, Master Eon suggested a Separation Spell which separates the originals from the Variants.
If a Separation Spell would be possible and if Twilight uses it on herself, she would be a unicorn again and her Variant, Ali Twi would still exist. But the original Twilight will still be able to exist I the show.
In the Variants Chapter, All Skylanders were assigned to rain their Variants to control their powers. Twilight trained Ali as her student, but she treated her like a little sister than just some Variant.
